The Primary Educator Preparation
Program (PEPP) is one of the teacher preparation diploma programs in the
College of Education at Qatar University. This program is a
collaborative effort between the faculty of the College of Education,
Qatar University and the faculty of the College of Education and Human
Development, Texas A&M University.
The Primary Educator Preparation
Program is the first program in the College of Education at Qatar
University to be taught in English. It is also the first program to be
implemented collaboratively with an external university.
This program consists of 30 credit
hours taught over a 10-month period. Classes are field-based, with
students observing and practicing skills learned in the program
courses. There are foundation courses in child development, educational
psychology, and Qatar society and educational reform. Coursework also
includes methodology in teaching Arabic, English, ESL, Mathematics,
Science and assessment. The final course in the sequence is a ten week
internship, in which students are placed in Independent Schools to
practice the skills required of a classroom teacher.
